AMP Ready Reference Guide

Tyco Electronics’ AMP utility connectors are designed around an engineering principle Tyco Electronics calls “Wedge Pressure Technology”. Field proven for more than 30 years, wedge pressure technology has formed the basis for a complete family of connectors that out performs other connectors types, resulting in “lowest life cycle cost” for our customers.

Mechanical connectors: Torque shear connector

Mechanical connectors, lugs and repair sleeves are designed for use in low and medium voltage applications. Only three sizes cover conductor sizes from 25 mm 2 to 400 mm2. All products consist of a tin-plated body, shear-head bolts and inserts for small conductor sizes.

HV torque controlled lugs and connectors for terminations and joints up to 72 kV

Crimp Connectors

SIMEL Aluminium Sleeves Type XG8 BM/XN8 BM are used for non-tension connections in MV and LV aluminium underground cable applications.
These sleeves are made of pure aluminium. Equal cross-section under the reference XG8BM, different cross-section under the reference XN8 BM. To be crimped by deep stepped indentation.
