BBBEE

TIS approached Broad-Based, Black Economic Empowerment (BBBEE) as a strategic imperative and this, together with the commitment from top management to transform the companies culture has contributed positively as TIS has been rated by Empowerdex as a Level 3 BBBEE contributor in 2012 .

TIS & BBBEE Transformation
Over the past few years Technology Integrated Solutions has totally committed itself to the principles of Black Economic Empowerment in South Africa. We see ourselves as a truly South African company. A dedicated BBBEE transformation committee was formed and tasked with compiling a BBBEE database which serves as a platform for measurement purposes regarding equity ownership, management and control, affirmative procurement, skills training, enterprise development and corporate social investment. The Transformation committee is also responsible for on-going identification and screening of complimentary BEE opportunities and preparations for BEE Ratings.

At TIS reaching BEE targets has become a key benchmark. And our objectives are reviewed regularly to align these commitments with the ever-evolving requirements of the  BBBEE policy. Empowerdex, an authorised South African economic empowerment rating agency, has ratedTIS as a Level Three, contributor with a 100% procurement recognition level, as defined by the Department of Trade & Industry’s Codes of Good Practice.

In addition, the company's continued  drive towards economic equity through broad-based black economic empowerment initiatives and scores show further improvement. We actively seek to support the creation and growth of BEE and SMME companies by applying affirmative action procurement and outsourcing policies. We continue to target further improvements by focusing on training and skills development, as well as broadening our enterprise development project already in place, as part of our succession planning programmes.

Broad- based black empowerment is an integral part of our everyday organisational culture at TIS. We are continuously seeking ways of recruiting the best talent in terms of BBBEE, developing and empowering this segment.

The TIS BBBEE plan is based primarily on the following pillars:

  • Broad Based Black Economic Empowerment (BBBEE) Act 53 of 2003
  • Employment Equity (EE) Act 55 of 1998
  • Skills Development Act 97 of 1998
  • Skills Development Levies Act 9 of 1999
  • The Altron Group’s Vision 2012

Our BBBEE initiatives are divided into 6 areas from which we operate, Ownership, Skills development, preferential procurement and Enterprise development, Employer Equity and Socio Economic development.
